John Anderson is a seasoned advisor and litigator with more than 20 years of experience representing both businesses and individuals in a broad spectrum of litigation matters. Mr.Anderson is also certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission as a Certified Superior Court Mediator.
With a focus towards commercial litigation, Mr. Anderson advocates for business clients in financial, banking, and various business disputes. His past experience extends to complex civil litigation, employment law, business torts, contract disputes, real estate conflicts, medical malpractice, commercial trucking accidents, products liability, and construction litigation.
With extensive courtroom experience, Mr. Anderson has successfully conducted numerous trials to jury verdict. He has also represented landowners and developers in disputes concerning land ownership, sales contract breaches, development rights, and architectural control. He has both prosecuted and defended foreclosures of commercial properties, and litigated lien claims and various construction disputes.
As a mediator, Mr. Anderson offers a balanced perspective based on his years of experience handling cases on behalf of businesses and individuals. When serving as a mediator, he acts as a neutral facilitator of settlement discussions to help parties resolve litigated disputes to avoid trial.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Anderson has represented major financial institutions and mortgage servicers, developing protocols, assembling in-house and external legal teams, and managing thousands of mortgage-related and UCC actions across multiple states. He led this endeavor for over 14 years, overseeing a team of dozens of attorneys handling thousands of cases throughout the United States.
Mr. Anderson is deeply committed to community and professional service. Since 2011, he has been the Regional Coordinator for the North Carolina High School Mock Trial Competition and serves on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Mock Trial Program. He has also previously held positions on the Board of Directors for the Brigade Boys & Girls Club of Wilmington and the University of North Carolina School of Law Alumni Board of Directors.
During his time at the UNC School of Law, Mr. Anderson served on the North Carolina Law Review and was also an active member and coach of the prestigious Broun National Trial Team.

Professional Experience
- Successfully defended a commercial developer at trial in a case involving a land purchase contract. The plaintiff claimed our client was obligated to construct a parking deck and provide 22 free parking spaces for 99 years, with three automatic renewals of 99 years each. The jury returned a full defense verdict in our client’s favor.
- Represented a luxury yacht manufacturer in a lawsuit alleging manufacturing defects and breach of warranty. The case was dismissed at the trial level, and we successfully defended the decision on appeal to the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
- Defended a commercial trucking company at trial in a personal injury action resulting from an early morning accident involving a log truck. The jury returned a verdict in favor of the defendant.
- Defended a real estate developer and general contractor in a case alleging breach of contract, breach of warranty, and unfair and deceptive trade practices related to the construction of a luxury home. The trial court dismissed all claims against our clients on summary judgment.
- Represented multiple large financial institutions and mortgage servicers in establishing protocols, building in-house and outside counsel teams, and overseeing the management of thousands of mortgage-related and UCC actions across a national territory.
